SPANISH IS EASY AND FUN
One of the great adventures of traveling is tasting the food and
learning about it. Mexican food is well-known in the world. But
nothing is better than tasting the food in the country of origin.
These are some of the sentences you use to express your need to eat:
- I am hungry: Tengo hambre.
- I want to eat: Quiero comer.
- Let us go to eat: Vamos a comer.
- I invite you to eat: Te invito a comer.
In Mexico the main meal is lunch - la hora de la comida. This period is
between 1:00 up to 5:00 p.m. Dinner here is after 8:00 pm, and it is usually a
light meal with Mexican treats like tacos, tortas, coffee and milk with
pastries. Once in a while we can get a formal dinner which is similar to our
comida. Let us analyze the menu for a comida:
Sopa (soup). In addition to the normal soups made with broth, we
also consider sopa rice or pasta.
Guisado: This is the main course - meat, fish or poultry, cooked
vegetables.
Ensalada: Salad.
Frijoles: Beans and tortillas
Aguas frescas: It is natural fruit juice blended with water and ice
Refrescos: Soft drinks
One of the lessons of the course is to visit a restaurant and to learn how to
order and understand the menu. Enjoy your meal! Muy buen provecho!
